Our Partner
Annie’s is honored to closely partner with the National Farm to School Network on the Root 4 Kids initiative. The nationally recognized organization connects schools to local farms to provide access to healthy food in the cafeteria, nutrition education in the classroom and hands-on learning through school gardens.
Coordinated by the Center for Food & Justice, Occidental College and the Community Food Security Coalition, and with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the National Farm to School Network officially launched in 2007. Its purpose is to institutionalize and catalyze farm to school programs as viable models for improving the economic viability of family farmers and supporting child nutrition.
Additional Supporters
“Root 4 Kids is a great way to get kids excited about the foods growing around them and, hopefully, making their way onto their plates!”

“Our children are no longer guaranteed a safe and healthy childhood, not in the face of the epidemic rates of ADHD, allergies, autism, asthma, diabetes and obesity. The importance of healthy eating cannot be underestimated. While none of us can do everything, we can all do one thing, and Root 4 Kids offers the tools and resources to restore the health of our families and the integrity of our food. As we work together, nurturing our children and inspiring each other to eat more real food together, we will affect remarkable change in the health of our families and the health of our country. What an incredibly important mission!”

“As filmmakers, we have a passion for creating change in our food system through sharing visual stories. From our first documentary project, King Corn, all the way to our current film and food project, Truck Farm, we focus around educating people on the importance of healthy, accessible and sustainable food. After visiting schools down the coast in our Truck Farm earlier this year, we are thrilled to see Annie’s keep the momentum through Root 4 Kids. Parents, teachers, kids, the community … join us by pledging your support!”

“What I’ve learned is that teaching your kids about food and getting them in the kitchen early will help them tremendously as adults. Most ‘clueless’ cooks out there never learned the basics when they were younger and only find themselves frustrated and eating unhealthy as adults. I was a very clueless cook, but I’m on a journey to change that and more importantly, I promise to teach my son about food.”

“It’s so incredibly important to teach a love for food at a young age. Root 4 Kids is a wonderful tool to engage both parents and children in the joy of discovering what it means to eat from plow to plate!”
~ Ana Joanes, Director, FRESH | www.FreshTheMovie.com
“Healthy Kids Challenge is committed to fun learning activities and simple every day solutions to Eat, Move and Enjoy a Healthy Balance. Root 4 Kids demonstrates how learning can be enjoyable and create appeal for healthy choices, too! Parents, kids, teachers and school food service – let the digging begin!”
